Eats, engines & entertainment

The culinary culture in Dubai takes a detour from its usual gastronomic delights to introduce a new breed of ‘meals on wheels’.
The cool climate brings with it ambitious plans of barbecues, picnics, camping trips, pool parties and beach days. Lately, however, joining that list is a new exciting alternative that seems to have taken the city by storm – the food truck trend.

Truckers DXB

Truckers DXB draws crowds at different venues across Dubai, include Emirates Golf Club, Burj Park and Marasi, all during the cooler months. Besides tickling tastebuds with international treats sold from trailers and trucks, the other entertainment highlights are live music, handicraft market stalls and a kids’ play area. The choice of seating alternatives includes hammocks, picnic benches and mats laid out on the grass.

Last Exit

Whetting the appetite while on the go is a trio of pit stops strewn across Sheikh Zayed Road, D63 Al Qudra and D89 Al Khawaneej. The themed food truck park concept is set up amidst a casual and convenient atmosphere. From crisp seafood salads and Iraqi kababs to Angus burgers and hotdogs, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. These designated areas also feature a kids’ play area, prayer rooms, plenty of parking and ATMs.

The Palm Jumeirah Boardwalk

A trip to The Boardwalk is always a treat with breathtaking views of Atlantis, Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Adding to the beauty of this 11km stretch are food trucks drenched in vibrant hues, serving healthy and fast food favourites. Further complimenting the aesthetics are fairy lights, colourful benches, snazzy-themed props and large menu boards. No need to dig into your pockets for change to feed the parking meters as there are free spaces allotted along the crescent.

Eat The World

As part of the gastronomic Dubai Food Festival, Eat The World had foodies heading down to Burj Park during February to savour delicacies from 25 international street food vendors. Besides hosting homegrown food trucks, many of them are flown in from the US, UK and Singapore. While these trucks manage to roll their way into the hearts (and stomachs) of the people, other attractions such as live music, kids’ activities and celebrity chef demos maintain the upbeat tempo.

Truckers At Concerts & Community Events

Besides the aforementioned venues, food trucks make their presence felt at other locations as well such as concerts performed by international artists and community events held at places like Emirates Hills and Arabian Ranches.
