Initially criticised by some because of the destruction of virgin tropical jungle and the negative environmental impact caused by its construction, Genting Highlands has become, nevertheless, enormously popular with Malaysians and expats alike. Among its attractions are a casino, a theme park, convention centres, excellent restaurants, nightclubs featuring world-class entertainers, and a cable car ride, the Genting Skyway. It’s best accessed from the Karak Highway (driving in the direction of Kuantan), or from Jalan Hulu Kelang. There is also a bus service from various parts of the city.
