Accommodation
Henderson, Te Atatu South, Massey and Ranui have lots of basic 50s and 70s housing. Many are on decent sections and cost about $350,000 (cheaper in Ranui). There is a lot of rental accommodation. Swanson, swathed in bush, and the country town of Waitakere are a bit more expensive. West Harbour and Te Atatu Peninsula are reasonably affordable for coastal Auckland – $450,000 will buy a large, new home and $700,000 will get a mansion with sea views. The peninsula has a lot of older, basic housing for less than $400,000. Small rural lifestyle blocks with modest houses start at $600,000. An upmarket, high-density housing development is planned for Massey North.
