Transport
Buses are regular at peak times and less so at other times, meaning the trip into the city can be a long one. Most people have their own transport. The area gets congested at peak times – especially the Northwestern Motorway, but dedicated bus lanes are being installed. The Northwestern Motorway will eventually hook up with the North Shore and Auckland Airport via the Western Ring Route. A cycleway runs alongside the motorway. West Harbour has a commuter ferry to the city, but it’s not cheap. The Western Line train stops at Waitakere, Swanson, Ranui and Henderson. Te Atatu South is 14km from the city, Henderson is 18km, Kumeu is 27km.
