Dress Code

Paris is a centre of fashion, and Parisians reflect that in the way they choose to dress. While styles differ, count on dressing 'business casual' for a night out on the town. Nicer restaurants will turn away customers dressed in ripped jeans, flip-flops or tracksuits. Baseball caps are increasingly worn around the city, but never in polite society; better to arrive cap-less to a restaurant or to someone’s home.

Weather-wise, Paris weather is unpredictable. While mornings may dawn grey and rainy, the afternoon might present blue skies and warmer weather so plan appropriately. Parisians take advantage of any chance to sunbathe in parks and along the Seine and it is not uncommon to see men and women wearing revealing swimsuits. Indoors, air conditioning is rarely too cold. On the contrary, many buildings and homes do not have air-conditioning units, so keep this in mind.
