Police

Paris’ préfecture de police falls under direct jurisdiction of the Interior Ministry. With a ratio of nearly a thousand officers per arrondissement, armed police presence is evident. Recognisable in their dark blue uniforms with POLICE emblazoned across the back, police take the streets in motorised vehicles, on horseback, by foot, bike and rollerblade. Traffic officers wear white or blue shirts and are mainly identifiable by their whistling and white-gloved waving at drivers. Police vehicles are white with red and blue stripes, with the word POLICE written on each side. Officers are usually approachable and ready to help someone in need.
