Dentists & Orthodontists
The best way to get dental care in Tokyo is to visit an English-speaking clinic that caters specifically for foreigners. A check-up will cost around ¥5,000, and any treatment needed will be extra. Prices do vary, but for a professional clean expect to pay upwards of ¥8,000. Whether your visit will be covered by insurance is dependant on your individual plan. Under National Health Insurance normal treatment is covered, but orthodontics and cosmetic treatment for your teeth are not. Young children may be entitled to a free check-up – contact your ward office to find out if this is available in your area. Different private clinics also offer child dentistry which they promote through their website.
