Counselling & Therapy
Moving to a new country can be an exciting experience, but also an unsettling one when you are faced with new schools, a new house and new work (all with a foreign language, culture and customs). Everyday situations in a foreign country may be more challenging without your personal network and support system from home. In these instances, seeking professional help can ease the adjustment and integration. You can find recommendations for native English speaking psychologists, psychiatrists and counsellors through your local consulate or embassy. In addition, ACCESS, a non-profit volunteer organisation set up to help the English speaking community in the Netherlands, can provide English speaking professional support through their counsellor network. The ACCESS Counselling Network consists of professionals with practices all over Holland. The counsellors are psychologists, mental health counsellors and social workers from a variety of different cultural backgrounds. For more information, contact ACCESS (423 32 17, www.access-nl.org).
