Well-Being

Most Berliners treat spa visits and beauty appointments as special treats rather than weekly indulgences. However, well-being achieved through exercise, whether it’s Pilates, yoga or tai chi, is increasingly popular among all ages.

One useful byproduct of Berlin’s non-obsession with looks is that services such as haircuts and nail appointments come relatively cheap. Haircuts costing €10 are on offer all over the city, but if you are looking for something other than a paint-by-numbers effort – close cropped for men, layered with sideswept fringe (die Pony) for women – be prepared to shell out slightly more.

Berlin’s party-hard lifestyle and dark winters normally call for some self-care. Popular options are spas and hammams, where locals can throw off their cares in a warm, comforting environment.
