Student Pass

All foreigners studying at educational institutions in Malaysia are required to hold a student pass. This also applies to expatriate children studying at international schools and the school will give you details on how to apply. If you’re over 18 and coming to Malaysia to study independently, you will need to make your application for a student pass through your educational institution before arriving in Malaysia. Your institution will advise you of the specific requirements relating to your course of study, but at a minimum you will need to provide your offer letter from your institution, two copies of your passport, two passport photos and copies of your up-to-date education certificates. Student passes cost RM60 for a full year or part of a year. Holders of student passes studying at postgraduate level are allowed to bring their immediate family members with them to Malaysia and they will be issued with social visit passes valid for the duration of the student pass.
