Bicycle

Los Angeles actually has some progressive laws regarding bicycle use. While cyclists are bound by the same rules as other drivers, they are also entitled to parking and showers in any new construction over 10,000 square feet. Additionally, all city buses are equipped with bike racks. Whether those perks are put into place is another matter. In fact, cycling in LA is not for the faint of heart. Bicycle lanes are few and far between, motorists don’t pay much attention to them and even police officers are ignorant enough of cyclists’ legal rights to penalise them instead of drivers in minor traffic incidents. If you do decide to pedal around the city, keep off the sidewalks, remember your helmet, make sure your bicycle has brakes and night-time reflectors, and get a licence from your retailer – they’re required by law.
