Beachwear

Though there’s not a speck of sand to be seen for miles except, of course, when the plage (p.xxx) hits town come summer, Paris does a brisk trade in beachwear all year around. Eres, a dedicated lingerie and bathing suit chain, has multiple outlets and specialises in high-fashion styles. The luxury lingerie and swimsuit store La Perla also has boutiques across the city for those who never let a tight budget get in the way of fashion. Men also have their pick of exclusive swimwear at Vilebrequin, specialists in bright, patterned board shorts and swimming trunks. Surf stores like Quiksilver and Oxbow (available for purchase online) provide slightly less expensive – and less flashy – options. For women, Etam and Princesse Tam-Tam are two well known chains selling great styles at mid-to-lower range prices. Department stores Le Bon Marché, Galeries Lafayette, Citadium and Printemps are all top destinations when it comes to beachwear for both adults and children. There are dozens of brands to choose from, ensuring there is little danger shoppers will fail to find an appealing style or fit at a price point they can afford. H&M, Gap and Zara provide a cheaper option, however unlike the department stores the offering of swimsuits in these chains is seasonal. Maternity fashion boutiques such as Formes will stock maternity swimwear, so too the larger baby goods stores such as La Do Re in the 15th arrondissement. La Do Re also sells UV protective suits for kids.
