Maternity Leave

Women are entitled to one year of maternity leave, but many resign when they have a baby. Leave is paid for up to six weeks before and up to six weeks after the birth, although eight weeks of post-natal leave is typically taken. Paternity leave is also available (but is rarely taken – statistics show the rate of paternity leave is only 0.56%). You will need to check with your employer about maternity leave (including how long you need to be working there to qualify – especially if it is a foreign company.
