To get a taste of what Tokyo was like long before you arrived, head to this educational museum. Sadly overlooked by many expats, the Edo-Tokyo is a window into the past with exhibits recreating Edo era and post-Meiji Tokyo. With six floors, it is almost as overwhelming as Tokyo itself. The building it is housed in resembles a UFO landing and is worth the trip alone.
