Imperial Palace

Situated in what traditionalists consider the true heart of Tokyo, the Imperial Palace and its environs are a great place for some laid-back exploration. Though the actual palace is closed to the public, views can still be gleamed, particularly of the impressive bridge, Nijūbashi. The placid East Garden features a tea pavilion and rolling lawns. Queue up on New Year’s Day or on the emperor’s birthday to inch further inside.
