Accidents & Breakdown
Not too close, however; you don’t want crashes out there – especially as, in some emirates, you have to leave your car at the scene for the police to inspect. In reality, unless you have a second car or are very close to civilisation, this may be impossible.
If you are using GPS, mark the coordinates of your abandoned car. If not, try to remember the location as meticulously as possible (especially in the desert, where everything looks the same). Common sense should prevail, so if driving out in the damaged car is the only sensible solution, then you should do it. Go straight to the police for an accident report and explain the situation. If you have a camera with you, take some pictures of the accident scene.
If your car breaks down, it is advisable to know a few basics of car maintenance, such as how to change a tyre or check the oil.
