Campsites

There are several campsites with good facilities within easy reach of Amsterdam. At Amsterdamse Bos, for example, there's a launderette, shop, playground and communal kichen, and the metro taking you to Amsterdam Centraal is just a few minutes' walk away. You don't actually have to bring a tent of course, you can rent a cabin, but checking-in facilities may not be 24-hours a day. If you decide to camp you will be not only be doing something very Dutch (as camping is hugely popular in the Netherlands) but you'll get a real feel for the landscape. Some campsites are more suitable for older visitors and families than others. In terms of price, a four-person tent at Zeeburg will cost €5 plus €5 per person, and a one to two person cabin is €40. It’s 80 cents to have a shower and 20 cents for warm water.
