In Emergency

112 is the emergency number for fire, police and ambulance. For medical emergencies (that are not life threatening), you can find a doctor via the central huisarts line (020 592 3434) or get efficient accident and emergency treatment (EHBO) at one of several Amsterdam hospitals. Or simply find a local doctor via the GoudenGids (yellow pages). To report a crime, the non-emergency police line (0900 8844) will connect to your nearest station. If your passport has been stolen, contact your embassy immediately or consult your embassy's website, which will usually provide step-by-step instructions as to what do do next. ATAS Amsterdam Tourist Assistance Service (020 625 3246) can provide practical support and help for tourist victims of crime.
