Fertility Treatments

If you are having trouble starting a family there are a few available methods to try in the Netherlands. In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) is one such procedure, but it is costly and the waiting list is long. The basic health insurance will only cover the second and third IVF treatment, but some supplemental insurance packages will also cover the first treatment. A first time fertility treatment can cost between €2,500 and €3,500 depending on whether you are using your husband’s sperm or donor sperm. In order to begin treatment your GP will need to refer you to a gynaecologist. The gynaecologist will be the one to administer all the required tests. For more information on fertility treatments, please see the website www.ivfkliniek.nl (they have an English page with prices). This is the homepage of the Medisch Centrum Kinderwens (Medical Centre for Childwish), a specialised centre to help those who are involuntarily childless or infertile.
