Contraception
The pill (la pildora) and inter-uterine device (dispositivo intrauterino, or diu) are only available on prescription after seeing a gynaecologist. The same goes for emergency contraception. If there is an urgent need for the morning-after pill (pildora del dia despues) outside hours or at weekends, you may have to go to A&E (urgencias). Condoms are not generally dished out on the public system either, and will have to be bought in pharmacies, supermarkets, or from vending machines in bars and clubs.
