English-speaking social groups can often be a good way to settle in, make contacts, and pick up advice. Anglos form a stable and long-established community in Barcelona, so there is an abundance of such groups here, many linked to shared nationality. Groups such as The British Society of Catalunya (93 688 08 66) and the American Society of Barcelona (www.amersoc.com) organise events, mixing traditions from back home with Catalan customs. The Australia Spain Business Association (asbabarcelona@australiaspain.com) is a networking group for business people. There is even a lunch club for old foes here, the Oxford-Cambridge Society of Barcelona (roygwaters@hotmail.com).
