Moving Your Pet

Bringing Your Pet To Dubai
Pets may be imported into the UAE without quarantine as long as they are microchipped and vaccinated with verifying documentation, including a government health certificate from the country of origin; however, you’ll also need an import permit. You cannot import cats and dogs under four months old and all pets must arrive as manifest cargo with a valid rabies vaccination more than 21 days before their arrival. Imports from some countries will also be subjected to a rabies test. For more information visit petimport.moew.gov.ae.

Banned breeds
Certain breeds of dog are banned from being imported into the UAE, namely, pit bull terriers, Argentinean and Brazilian mastiffs, Japanese tosa inu, American Staffordshire terriers, Rottweilers and any wolf hybrids. The UAE also bans any dogs crossed with any of the banned breeds listed. There are other breeds which, while not banned outright, have restrictions on them too. Make sure you check with the Municipality before you embark on the process. Dubai Kennels & Cattery provides a detailed guide to importing and exporting pets. The international removal company Crown Relocationsoffers a pet relocation service and can provide useful information on how best to transport your pet.

Taking Your Pet Home
To take your pet home it is best to contact the airline you will be using for their regulations - the animal may be able to travel with you or as unaccompanied cargo. Many boarding kennels and vets offer an export service, including Dubai Kennels & Cattery and The Doghouse.
