Photography is widely accepted, especially in tourist areas, and Malaysians usually enjoy having their photo taken. Often they will flash a big grin and a ‘v’ for victory sign for the photographer. Like everywhere else you should, of course, ask permission before photographing people. Photographs of military installations, military personnel and police and airports are not permitted.
