Although Kuala Lumpur is generally child friendly, special facilities for children and childcare in shopping malls are rare. Mid and high-range restaurants usually have high chairs and special children’s menus, but no such thing as toys and colouring books to keep little hands busy. Many hotels offer babysitting services. Mums’ and tots’ groups are usually located through either schools or expat groups like The Association of British Women in Malaysia (www.abwm.com.my) or the Malaysian Australian and New Zealand Association (MANZA, www.manza.org). Kuala Lumpur has a zoo, a bird park, a butterfly park, and several theme parks such as Cosmo’s World in the Berjaya Times Square Mall. Sunway Pyramid has a small skating rink and various other attractions for children.
