Although around one quarter of French adults are smokers, as of February 2007 they have been banned from smoking in most public places. While it is still possible to smoke in restaurants, cafes and bars, the glory days for nicotine lovers are numbered. By 2008, in theory at least, even Paris’ eating and drinking establishments were due to become tobacco-free.
