Cabinet

The cabinet is the main executive body of the Dutch government and consists of ministers and state secretaries. Former professor of philosophy Jan Peter Balkenende of the Christian Democratic Appeal (CDA) has been prime minister since 2002, and his current government – the fourth since coming into power – is a three party coalition with the Labour Party (PvdA) and the Christian Union (CU). Balkenende’s administration also includes the first Muslim minister to achieve cabinet status.
