Finding quality English entertainment in Amsterdam can be difficult. Although you probably won’t get to see an English production of Shakespeare you will have many opportunities for smaller contemporary productions if you keep an eye out for them. Of course language is not a barrier to enjoy a classical recital or opera and you won’t be short of options to view either of those. Amsterdam does have a few great comedic productions. Boom Chicago presents a show every night in its own 300 seat theatre on Leidseplein where you can also enjoy a hearty meal, if you can manage to swallow around your chuckles . There’s also a great improvisation company in Amsterdam that does shows and provides workshops and courses. If you prefer a more serious amateur venture then In Players is more suited for you. It’s Amsterdam’s oldest English speaking theatre company which stages productions and holds workshops. You can also check out Theater Works , a younger company that presents classics and contemporary retakes.
