Mobile Phones
You can choose from a variety of contracts for your mobile phone and prepaid (pay-as-you-go) deals are available. If you don’t have proof of address and income yet then you’ll have to get a prepaid phone. The calls will cost more and you will have to pay more for your phone up front, but you’ll have a phone. You can buy credit for your phone from most newsagents and supermarkets. Once you do have your address and other documents sorted out you can always cross over to a subscription. Having a subscription has several benefits: you will pay less for your calls, you can get deals on multimedia extras like the internet, cheaper texting, and if you lose your phone you can request a replacement sim card and keep your number. You also get a choice of whether or not to upgrade to a new phone at the end of your contract or pay even less for your calls. You can buy a mobile from almost anywhere these days. If you want a contract you should go to one of the phone stores throughout the city. You can check the providers’ websites for locations.
