So-called budget hotels are often nicer than many places that have an extra star or two next to their name. Berlin has no shortage of decent – and frequently stylish – budget accommodation. The chain Motel One has just opened a flashy branch right next to Alexanderplatz (030 2005 4080), with rooms starting at only €59. The Circus Hostel (030 2839 1433) on Rosenthaler Platz already offers private rooms with en suite baths for €46 and up, but it is also opening a brand new budget hotel right across the intersection in late 2008.
