Electricity & Water
The electricity supply in Dubai is 220/240 volts. The socket type is identical to the three-point UK system but most appliances here are sold with two-pin plugs. Adaptors can be bought from any grocery store or hardware shop.
Rubbish disposal is efficient, with municipality trucks driving around each area and emptying skips daily. Just empty your household bins into the skips (there is usually one on every street). If you don’t have a skip on your street, then contact Dubai Municipality on 800 900 to request one. Certain areas, such as Emirates Living, have wheelie bins outside each house, where waste is regularly collected from. Recycling efforts are poor but slowly improving.
