Main Government Hospitals
While you probably won’t be visiting a government hospital for regular treatment, it’s important to know where they are and what facilities they offer in case of an accident or other emergency. Limited resources and plenty of patients means facilities are often overstretched and all but the most severe cases are likely to have a long wait in accident and emergency. Most nursing and ancilliary staff will speak Bahasa Malaysia, while doctors will usually speak English. Signs, forms and other information are often printed only in Bahasa Malaysia. It’s common for a full service hospital, either government or private, to be called a medical centre.
