Jetskiing
In the last couple of years, restrictions have eased somewhat; in most of the emirates, PWCs can now be used as long as they’re kept away from the main beaches and marinas. In Dubai, however, everyone (tourists included) must have a licence for their PWC and, therefore, there’s no possibility of renting a jetski in Dubai as you can in certain places in other emirates (excluding the close proximity of swimming areas or marinas. Some of these rental spots are listed below.

Looking north, the watersports centre at Al Hamra Fort Hotel & Beach Resort (alhamrafort.com) rents jetskis – the perfect way to explore the Ras Al Khaimah coastline at high speed – for Dhs.160 per 15 minute slot. Although you can’t rent jetskis in Dubai itself, there are options nearby. In spite of its name, Jetski Dubai is actually located just on the Abu Dhabi side of the border in Ghantoot; the company rents out jetskis from 09:00-17:50 seven days a week. It’s a great, safe area to ride, with the wide manmade channel running from Ghantoot right down to the sea. Prices start at Dhs.250 for 20 minutes.
For residents at the other end of the city, a number of tour operators rent out jetskis from Al Mamzar Beach Park which sits on the border with Sharjah; Arabian Desert Tours, for example, charges Dhs.275 for a 30 minute session.
If you are really keen to own your own jetski, there are several good quality vendors to choose from including Al Yousuf Motors which has an excellent selection from solo machines to luxury jetskis.
