Vehicle Insurance

To drive in China at the very least you need third person insurance. This will cost somewhere in the region of ¥1,000 each year. Most motorists choose to purchase insurance policies that cover damage and theft at a cost of ¥2,000 to ¥5,000 per year. Policies tend to be largely the same regardless of the insurance company. Each 4S (sales, service, spares and survey) dealership will have a particular insurance company that they work with, and can help set up your policy with that company when you buy your car. As is true elsewhere, insurance will cost more if you have a history of accidents and traffic offences.
