There are however a number of well-regarded therapy centres offering services including counselling, psychodynamic therapy, family and couples’ therapy, paediatric psychiatry, treatment of mental health disorders and learning difficulties support.
Dubai Community Health Centre offers a range of counselling and psychiatric services and provides space for support group meetings; it comes highly recommended, as does the Counselling & Development Clinic. In addition to the clinics and centres listed, the British Medical Consulting Centre and Drs Nicolas & Asp have counsellors, family therapists and psychiatrists on staff. Dubai Herbal & Treatment Centre has a psychodynamic counsellor, a psychologist and a learning specialist, and is recommended for child counselling services.
In the neighbouring emirate of Sharjah, Al Tamimi Stables offers Animal Assisted Therapy to help provide people with a positive outlook.
