Applying For A Birth Certificate: Country Of Origin

This birth certificate can be applied for at the same time as a passport.  You do not need a birth certificate from your country of origin but it is advisable to avoid any confusion in the future. You can use your UAE birth certificate to apply for a passport from your home country but it does help to have a country of origin birth certificate too.

The process differs depending on nationality, and below are general guidelines, but do consult your embassy for the exact requirements.

Prerequisites

  • You have registered the birth of your baby with your home country embassy.
What to bring
  • A valid postal address and email address.
  • Debit or credit card.
  • You will need the following details.
  • Name of baby.
  • Name of both parents and mother’s maiden name.
  • Date of birth (baby).
  • Area where birth took place (e.g. Dubai).

Procedure

  • You may have to wait up to six months from registering the birth with your embassy.
  • The birth certificate will then be couriered to you.
