Connecting To The Internet

Both Etisalat and du have a well-developed, technologically advanced telecommunications infrastructure – and they are the sole providers of internet in Dubai. Etisalat is the main Internet Service Provider (ISP), but du primarily serves the newly developed areas and free zones in the emirate. Currently, you don’t get to choose a service provider, rather you must go with whoever your home is pre-wired to; there are plans to broaden the network to each ISP though.

Etisalat services range from a basic Al Shamil broadband connection to an eLife bundle that includes internet, TV and landline.

du services range from the Talk & Surf internet and landline packages to Talk, Surf and Watch packages, which also include digital TV.

Visit any Etisalat or du store to sign up and arrange for a home installation. The whole process takes at least one week.

Disconnecting from the internet
To cancel your internet subscription, you will need to either downgrade your package to just a landline, or cancel it altogether. To do this, call or visit the service centre of whoever provides your internet (du or Etisalat). You will need to pay a downgrade fee of Dhs.100 if you cancel du internet before your 12-month contract expires. Etisalat requires one-month’s notice to cancel, otherwise you will need to pay for a month even if you don’t use it.
