Equipment & Supplies

If watersports are your thing and you’re looking to make an investment, there are a few good shops that sell all the latest gear, gadgets and equipment. Al Boom Marine (alboommarine.com) in Dubai is probably the longest established, stocking a huge range of brands. Al Boom is also one of the few UAE shops to sell the coveted GoPro cameras (gopro.com). Waterproof, shockproof and versatile in every terrain, these lightweight cameras can be mounted onto surfboards, jetskis and oars, or harnessed on to your chest, head or wrist to capture your most extreme adventures.

Watersports store Beach St (leisuremarine-me.com) is just as water-focused. The large JBR shop showcases a whole host of specialist clothing and products, such as wetsuits, ropes and handles, as well as skis, boards and kayaks. Adventure HQ (adventurehq.ae), located in Dubai’s Times Square Centre, is the UAE’s largest outdoor adventure superstore. There, you’ll find a huge range of gear for active lifestyle pursuits, including kayaks, surf boards, wakeboards and handles, and kitesurf boards, kites and harnesses. Decathlon at Mirdif City Centre has plenty of own-brand watersports equipment and clothing, which offer superb value for money. Intersports also stock a decent line.

If you don’t own your own equipment there are several excellent watersports centres in the UAE that offer rental and instruction. The UAE’s beach front hotels  usually offer basic watersports, but there are a handful of beach clubs and watersports centres that cater more specifically to those looking to improve their skills.
