Covering a large area on Barcelona’s north side, Sant Andreu is unapologetically residential. Its large apartment blocks and industrial estates have little to tempt the tourist, but enough commercial developments, amenities and services to keep locals content. The area is set to achieve new importance with the opening of the AVE station, which will make Sagrera one of Barcelona’s twin hubs for the high-speed train network. Sagrera is under massive redevelopment in preparation.
