Sant Cugat
Located on the other side of Collserola, some 15 kilometres north west of Barcelona, the life of this town has been greatly influenced by central Barcelona’s increased accessibility. In the late 19th century, improved road connections made the town popular as a summer destination for city dwellers. When the train arrived there in 1917, Sant Cugat took a huge leap forwards economically and over 70 years later, the opening of a new tunnel for cars gave a further impetus to the town. Thanks to an influx of international companies, today the traffic between Sant Cugat and Barcelona is largely made up of commuters, in both directions, and has become a popular residence for affluent young families.
