Sarria-Sant Gervasi

Sarrià and Sant Gervasi were outlying villages that Barcelona absorbed during the 19th and early 20th centuries, when they swapped their farmhouses for tall, modern apartment blocks. This area is part of the zona alta (along with Pedralbes), which means high area, an apt name for this barrio, both geographically and in terms of class. There are some remnants from the past that give it charm, particularly Major de Sarrià, a pedestrianised road with a high street feel to it. The neighbourhood is divided into three main sections, Sarrià on the west, Sant Gervasi on the east, and to the north within Collserola park, Vallvidrera-Les Planes.
