Radio
Radio, like other media, is government-controlled. That hasn’t stopped Cantopop and English pop from taking over the airwaves, though taxis will still stay tuned to old-fashioned radio dramas. Try HIT FM at 88.7 to hear some of the same stuff that’s on chart stations back home, or 91.5 (Easy FM) which is bilingual – and a good introduction to Chinese pop music. On the AM dial, Radio 774 introduced some English programming in preparation for the Olympics, and has broadcast rights to Olympic events.
