Food
Germans often guzzle on the run, so stalls, gelato stands and bakeries are among the busiest places in town during daylight hours. One in seven Berlin residents are foreigners, so you’re just as likely to see locals snacking on falafel and kebabs as Bratwurst and Pfannkuchen. While there are plenty of supermarkets in which to stock up on the basics, food lovers will get a better taste of what Berlin has to offer at the various gourmet specialist shops around town. As well as excellent ethnic food, Berlin has an assortment of chocolate shops and bakeries, a gob-smacking array of freshly baked bread, cut-from-the-wheel cheese and smoked or boiled meat.
