Calling An Ambulance
Most private and some government hospitals have ambulance services, but these are solely a means of transporting a patient to hospital. There is no paramedic service. At best, ambulance personnel will give basic first aid, at worst, nothing. Unless you suspect the patient has a severe injury to their spine or neck, the best and quickest option is often to take them to hospital by car or taxi. If you need to call an ambulance, try the St John’s Ambulance Service (03 9285 5294) or Lifeline (03 7956 9999), or one of the major private hospitals on their emergency line: Gleneagles (03 4255 2880), Pantai (03 2296 0999) or Ampang Puteri (03 4260 7060).
