Nerima-ku
Nerima-ku may seem like it’s in the farthest reaches of Tokyo, but it’s a good option for those who want to get away from the bustle of the city. The main residential area is around Nerima station, which is a 20 minute ride from Shinjuku via the Ōedo metro line. The area has large, modern buildings, which become smaller as you move into the neighbourhoods. New buildings going up are a mix of smaller designer apartment manshons and larger apartment towers. There’s more greenery than in other parts of the city, simply because it’s not quite as densely developed. The streets are quiet, and there’s little traffic once you leave the immediate station area. Nerima is ideal for young couples or people who don’t want to be hemmed in by buildings.
