Shinjuku-ku
Shinjuku is one of the major hubs for transport and shopping in Tokyo. And while it is not quite as green or quiet as some other areas, it has some charm that attracts expats to live there. Bordered by Shibuya in the south and Bunkyō and Chiyoda wards in the north and east, the main residential areas are concentrated closer to Chiyoda-ku and Bunkyō-ku, with the western area being primarily commercial. This means it has limited housing options, but great shopping. It’s serviced by the JR Chūō, Sobu and Yamanote lines as well as the Seibu Shinjuku line and the Ōedo, Shinjuku and Marunouchi metro lines.
