Where To Go
In fact, taking to a kayak is just about the best way to get up close to the region’s wildlife and wild coastline. With paddle power alone, you can glide silently across pristine lagoons and through gnarly mangrove forests. It is incredibly easy to get started; for a paddle through the mangroves of Abu Dhabi, head to Qasr Al Bahr towards the shore and you can launch your kayak off the jetty. Or try the swamps of Khor Kalba - just head over the bridge towards the Children’s Park and head for the conservation reserve. In most locations, you’ll come across curious turtles that like to pop up and say hello.
If you’re looking for a more challenging and intensive ride, try the white water rapids at Wadi Adventure in Al Ain where hardcore kayak enthusiasts can test their skills down one of three man-made routes.
