Those requesting working (Z), student (X), residence (D) or journalist (J-1) visas will need to have a health exam on arrival. This can only be done at the Beijing International Healthcare Centre (20 Heping Li Beijie, Dongcheng, 010 6427 4239). It includes blood tests, a general check up, an ECG and blood pressure check. The clinic is open Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 10:30 and you must not have eaten that day. You will need your passport and three passport photos. Exams and certificates cost ¥700, but many companies will cover this.
