Friedrichshain is up and coming on the Berlin gastronomical scene. Restaurants are thickest on the ground around Simon-Dach-Strasse, with especially good Middle Eastern and vegetarian (Sanabel) offerings. Most Friedrichshain restaurants are casual and budget-oriented, as the neighbourhood crowd remains quite studenty.

As for drinking, Friedrichshain has Berlin’s highest concentration of partygoers and the establishments that serve them, including Kinocafé Intimes. From the bars and cafes along Simon-Dach-Strasse and summer beach bars on the shore of the Spree (including Bar 25) to top clubs such as Berghain, Friedrichshain is at the heart of Berlin’s nightlife.
