In recent years, the Nakano-ku area has started to become more developed with quite a few new high-rise apartment complexes near Higashi-Nakano and Nakano-Sakaue stations. Ochiai and Nakano-Shinbashi are relatively quiet in comparison and have a few new mid-sized apartment blocks with mostly one and two bedroom units. Modestly aged one bedroom units (1DK) run to about ¥80,000 per month in the Nakano-Sakaue area, Higashi-Nakano has older units that can be cheaper, but it’s being gentrified a bit.
