Second-hand is by no means second best in Berlin. You’ll find great deals (and just as many luxury labels) in Berlin’s many second-hand shops. Pre-owned designer labels are mostly found in Charlottenburg, while Mitte, Prenzlauer Berg and Friedrichshain will suit those looking for everyday gear or kids’ clothes (it’s worth knowing some charge by weight, not by item).
Many shops stock both second hand and new items; among the best is Waahnsinn, particularly for its trendy new and used retro gear. Bargain hunters will also do well at the many flea markets around town, where cut-price bargains are in oversupply.
